It’s almost time for the holy month of Ramadan this year, and as usual all the television channels in the Maldives are gearing up for their special ‘entertainment’ programs to be aired during the month. Each year, we see the stations go head to head in producing the best of the best programs, but amidst the cut-throat competition for entertainment programs, the one thing our prime focus should be on during the month remains neglected. To tackle that, Television Maldives (TVM) launched the Quran Reality Show titled ‘Enme Aligadha Thari’ – where contestants are sought out from various parts of the country to compete in the Quran recitation competition for the ultimate title.
The show made its debut in 2013 on TVM, and has continued dominating public support and primetime during the Ramadan. This year’s show is also set to make headlines throughout the month – since it has become the show with the biggest cash price being awarded to the winner; MVR 500,000. This is double the amount given as the prize money for the first ever international reality show in the Maldives, Maldivian Idol.
While the title winner is set to receive MVR 500,000 offered by PSM, discussions are underway to finalize prizes for the first, second and third place of the country contributed by friendly Islamic nations. In addition to this, the second and third place winners are also to receive fully funded scholarships from the Islamic University of Maldives (IUM). Well-wishers are also holding discussions to offer Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages for the winners.
Auditions for the program will be carried out in HA. Ihavandhoo, GDh. Thinadhoo and GN. Fuvahmulah in addition to Male’ City. Everyone across the nation would also be able to participate in the competition by simply downloading the “PSM Share” application, and sharing a recording of them reciting the Quran.
Allied Insurance’s “Ayady Takaful” has been officially confirmed as the main sponsor for the show, set to experience various changes during the next season of the program.
