The formation of Public Service Media (PSM) could be defined as a turning point in modern day Maldivian media. It came to life at a time when, the media industry of the country was in desperate need of cut-throat competition, especially the broadcasting mediums. With visions that were beyond the nation itself, PSM has made it their aim to create a media house that would be remembered for eternities to come – and the launch of Majlis TV was one of them.
The objective of the channel was simple; to bring the daily happenings of the parliament, as well as several related content about the constitution, laws and regulations as well as the parliamentarians. The channel which was launched nationwide during the parliament session held on August 17, 2015 now aims to further broaden their audience by creating viewer friendly content which still revolves around the main works of the parliament and the lawmakers.
To celebrate the first anniversary of the channel, a special quiz is being conducted regarding the works of the parliament – with a total price of MVR 28,000. The quiz which will continue for a month will see daily questions being promoted through the various mediums of PSM.
The channel currently broadcasts parliament sessions along with committee sessions as well as different varieties of content regarding its lawmakers and awareness on new laws.
